The composite toes meet ASTM standards for impact and compression, but don't weigh as much as steel toes. Your feet are protected from falling objects, but your every step isn't weighed down by steel. As you know, for long treks or patrolling an area, you don't want to carry unnecessary weight. An upper that's both flash-resistant and water-resistant is a bonus. For flame-resistance, you get a PTFE coating, and drainage vents release water from the boots with each footfall. Whether walking or standing, you'll be doing it on a Vibram® outsole designed to be flexible, comfortable and durable. Comfort isn't overlooked in these tactical boots. In addition to drainage ports and Vibram, Rocky designed the boots with a Dri-Lex lining that wicks away moisture for conditions where your feet are likely to sweat. The Aegis Microbe Shield keeps microbes from getting a foothold. The Rocky Air-PortT footbed is molded from durable polyurethane.

It won't lose its shape or break down, and it circulates air to your feet as you walk. A final element of comfort comes from the LYCRA® tongue that comfortably moves with your foot. Proprietary high-walled Vibram® soles are stitched to the upper. Unisex styles come in men's sizes. Impact testing determines the amount of protection to the toe under various foot pounds of force.

Compression testing determines the amount of static pressure a steel/composite toe cap can withstand. Footwear is built with nail-free construction to help insulate you from the ground to slow down conduction, but is not intended to be primary protection against electric shock. Leather footwear must be dry.
